Limestone
Limestone forms extensive, thick, multiple layers within the continental crust. It is a sedimentary rock containing carbonate minerals, mainly of calcite, which recrystallize into a hard and brittle rock. The porous nature of limestone and its softness makes this material less suitable for work surfaces, but it is widely used in bathrooms and fireplace finishes.
